The transactions between the citizens and the economy of Serbia and Montenegro can be realized directly, faster and cheaper, because direct payment operations have been established between the two countries, announced the National Bank of Serbia.

Direct payment operations between Serbia and Montenegro, as the NBS explained, brings numerous advantages. One of them is that participants can perform transactions for their clients on the same day for orders sent by 2 p.m.

Dusan Uzelac, the editor-in-chief of the Kamatica portal, says that the main new feature is “the removal of the mediators from the transactions”.

– This entails a faster transaction, the main benefit, and when it is faster and without a mediator, it is also cheaper and more favorable. That is always an industrial benefit, in such situations, the banking industry will benefit from a quicker and cheaper transaction, the only question is when they should transfer it to the end-user – he says.

He explains that “the price lowers when there is competition, and not when the purchase of products and services on their part is cheaper”.

– It is important to note that this is an infrastructural thing, they have even commented that the transaction volumes are small, all of which is true, there are not some big savings on those transactions, but what it enables infrastructurally is for them to happen. If something is facilitated, both an easier transaction and an economic activity can happen – he says.

According to him, “if there’s a wide route for a quicker transaction, that’s what makes things easier”.

– It’s all in perspective too, it’s a good example, in a slightly wider context, when this is established with one country, there’s communication between the central banks at the level where it could be established with a second, third, fourth one… The biggest benefit is that this is the beginning of regional networking when it comes to those banking transactions – points out Uzelac.
