This year, Air Serbia expects revenues of over EUR 500 million, for the first time since the company has been operating under the current name, as confirmed by CEO Jiri Marek for Aerotime Hub. The airline company also projects a record net profit in 2023.

– For the first time in history, we will surpass an income of half a billion euros, which is very important, and we see that all the key performance indicators (KPIs) are growing. That includes the so-called revenue per available seat kilometer, the number of passengers and transfer traffic, that is, passengers which get transfers. The demand is so big in this region that, if we had more capacities and if we distributed them, we would fill them out as well – Marek believes.

The Serbian airline carrier realized a net profit of EUR 22.4 million in the first half of the year and is on its way toward realizing “strong financial results for the whole 2023,” as reported by this air traffic portal.

Air Serbia plans to expand its network of air lines next year, however, with the 23 new destinations that have been added in 2023, the focus will be on increasing the frequency of the flights.

– We want to position ourselves as a regional transporter, which entails a primary focus on connecting destinations within the region, because it is economically feasible. We are increasing the frequencies on these regional routes, where there’s a certain demand for point-to-point with Belgrade, and the transfer is a result of it. There are still some differences in the region. For example, if you compare Tirana, which is mostly connected so that passengers get transfers, with Montenegro, where point-to-point traffic is mostly present. In general, we believe that we can grow in the region. All the new destinations that we plan in the east, for example, in Romania or Bulgaria, will be directed at transfer traffic, because the point-to-point demand is very limited – Marek explains his view of the regional market from the position of the CEO of one of the largest airline companies in that market.

– We don’t want to stop there. We want to continue growing, to develop and reach new markets. We want to further highlight Belgrade and Air Serbia on the map, because now we have reached a certain size. We want to be the driving engine of the economy and growth, as we already are, and to keep developing that – Marek says.
