Although several potential buyers were interested in purchasing the company Slavija hoteli, only the company Matijevic – whose founder is the famous businessman Petar Matijevic, made a bid for the purchase of the company whose property includes the hotels Slavija and Slavija garni on the Slavija Square in the very center of Belgrade, reports Biznis.rs.

The bid price has not been disclosed so far, but it is known that, in the public invitation for taking part in the privatization of Slavija hoteli, the initial price for taking part in the public bidding is set at EUR 24.9 million.

The public bidding was not held today, because only Matijevic, whose representatives were present at the opening of the documentation, had submitted a bid.

In the further procedure, the commission of the Ministry of Economy will say whether it accepts the bid for the privatization of one of the most famous hotels in Belgrade, which celebrated its 60th anniversary last year, or not.

The bids were planned to be opened today, after which an auction, which would be closed to the media, was supposed to follow.

All those interested in taking part in the procedure of the privatization of Slavija hoteli were obligated to also pay a deposit of EUR 2.49 million.

This is the second attempt of Petar Matijevic to become the owner of the valuable property of the hotel company, which has so far not once, since the beginning of the privatization process 20 years ago, been offered at either a tender or a public auction.

Petar Matijevic attempted to buy the hotel Slavija Lux (now called Slavija garni) in 2018 in a procedure launched by the public enforcement officer, but the sale was cancelled because the Commercial Court in Belgrade had determined that, previously, there had to be a final decision about whether Slavija had a debt toward the company Fil Sar.
