The Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the Port Governance Agency and the Municipality of Golubac have signed the Agreement on the Regulation of Mutual Rights and Obligations for the Implementation of the Marina Construction Project in Golubac. This Agreement is a prerequisite for the construction of the infrastructure of the Golubac marina, the Agency announced.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, Uros Kandic, said that by the end of next year, the construction of the nautical tourism infrastructure in Lower Danube will be completed.

- The marina construction project in Veliko Gradiste is in progress, and apart from the fact that we will build a marina in Golupac as well, during 2024 the capacity for the international passenger pier in Donji Milanovac will also be a doubled - Kandic said. He also announced that the plan is to build a new passenger pier in Banostor in 2024, which will expand the capacity for receiving cruise ships in the Upper Danube region as well.

He pointed to the satisfactory pace of recovery of domestic nautical tourism this year as well, bearing in mind that by November 1 there were around 170,000 passengers on cruise ships, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

Assistant Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Predrag Petrovic emphasized that the "Sail Serbia" project was designed to be constantly upgraded and to show the state's intention to invest in nautical infrastructure, tourism and the economy.

- We want to attract as many tourists as possible to visit Serbia from the rivers. Golubac is one of the locations that, with its modern marina, will influence the increase of both income and visitors in this part of our country. The interdepartmental working group for the implementation of the "Sail through Serbia" project, in which the most important institutions in Serbia take part, is a true example of good state cooperation in the development of infrastructure and tourism. So far, as part of the project, we have opened international passenger piers in Sremska Mitrovica and Zemun, and by the end of this year we will also open the Sabac pier. In addition to that, a marina is being built in Veliko Gradiste, in which around 2.5 million EUR will be invested in the first phase - Petrovic said and stated that the value of the "Sail through Serbia" project is EUR 30 million, when it comes to the planned infrastructure.

Director of the Port Governance Agency Vuk Perovic said that Golubac is one of the locations included in the capital project "Sail through Serbia", launched in March this year.

- The agency initiated the project taking into account the great nautical potential of our country. During the project, works will be done on the construction of the missing nautical infrastructure - marinas and international passenger piers, as well as on the development of linear and canal traffic. This way, tourists will be presented with fortresses, archaeological sites, cultural monuments and natural resources located on the riverbanks of Serbia. As part of the project, the construction of five marinas on the Danube is planned, among them the marina in Golubac. It is the second marina being construction, since the implementation of the marina project in Veliko Gradiste has already begun. I am convinced that the Golubac marina will complete the tourist offer of eastern Serbia and bring it even closer to both Serbian and foreign tourists - said Perovic.

The future marina will be located on the Danube in the immediate vicinity of the center of Golubac and will be able to accommodate around 100 vessels. In addition to space for the reception and accommodation of vessels, commercial and other facilities will be developed as part of the marina.
