First European Congress Begins at Reconstructed Sava Centar

With the opening of the 14th European Nutrition Conference, with over 1,500 participants, the congress-business part of Sava Centar, in whose thorough and careful reconstruction Delta Holding invested a total of EUR 118 million, officially started working today.

The congress aims to bring the science and the practice closer together, that is, to make scientific research on nutrition usable for achieving sustainable development goals and solving important health challenges having to do with nutrition, Delta says in a press release.

– The organizers of the gathering are the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) and the Serbian Nutrition Society. We expect a truly successful event, because, as organizers, we have prepared a remarkably rich and varied expert program, whereas the hosts from Sava Centar have provided top conditions for the stay and the work of a large number of delegates – says professor Sladjana Sobajic, PhD, the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the president of the 14th European Nutrition Conference.

The beginning of the work of the congress-business part of Sava Centar was made official today by the CEO of Sava Centar, Kristina Milincic, and the CEO of the Serbia Convention Bureau of Serbia, Dusan Borovcanin. At the ceremony, the head of the national congress organization received a photograph of Sava Center with the symbol of the Victor Monument in Belgrade and the wish to have Belgrade put back on the world map of large congress events.

– The opening of Sava Centar is the beginning of a new era for Serbia as a destination. Our whole society can expect considerable benefits due to the fact that one of the symbols of the city is operational again. The benefit is economic, but there is also the benefit from the exchange of knowledge, from the arrival of the leading world experts, who will open new spaces for our professionals in nearly all the fields of work – Borovcanin stated.

– The most important result of the opening of the congress and business part of Sava Centar is the return of Belgrade and Serbia to the map of the congress destinations of the world. Today, thanks to the European congress, our city has become the center of the gathering of the leading professionals from the field of nutrition, who are bringing over the best world practices, knowledge, experience and new ideas – said Kristina Milincic and emphasized that, thanks to the reconstruction of Sava Centar, Belgrade could now host gatherings with over 5,000 participants.

In addition to the congress part, the business and shopping part, spreading on 30,000 square meters, opened too. This way, Sava Centar, which is architecturally connected with Hotel Crowne Plaza, will make for a single unit in which the visitors will have everything available under one roof.

The reconstruction of Sava Centar is taking place in two phases, which follows the dynamics of its construction in 1977 and 1978. After the opening of the congress-business part, the reconstruction of the famous Blue Hall, known for its numerous concerts, is to continue, and it will welcome its first guests in the summer of 2024.
