Gebrüder Weiss has made another step toward climate neutrality. In September, this international logistics company put its first photovoltaic (PV) system in the Dobanovci location near Belgrade into operation. The solar system supplies the logistics location with green energy and enables, among other things, the use of electric forklifts. Investing in renewable solar energy reduces the annual CO2 emissions of the branch office by 41 tons. At the same time, the first station for the charging of electric vehicles was set up at the location.

– Switching to solar energy has considerably improved our ecological balance. As the first Gebrüder Weiss location in eastern Europe, we now cover most of our energy needs from renewable sources. We deliver surplus electrical energy to the local power grid – explains Roland Raith, Managing Director for Serbia at Gebrüder Weiss.

Gebrüder Weiss has a total of three branch offices in Serbia with 275 employees and offers logistics services for various industries, such as the automotive, electronic, food and textile industries.

– Our clients are giving increasingly more importance to sustainable use of resources in their business processes, which we support – emphasizes Roland Raith.

The photovoltaic system in Belgrade is part of the striving of Gebrüder Weiss to achieve climate neutrality for all its locations by 2030. The company currently manages 25 photovoltaic systems in the region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D-A-CH region), which save 1,286 tons of CO2 annually. In addition to investments in the D-A-CH region, the company plans to build solar systems in other locations in eastern Europe as well in the future.
