Rio Sava Explorations, a daughter company of Rio Tinto, has filed nine lawsuits against Serbia to the Administrative Court due to the stopping of the Jadar project and the excavation of lithium. The Administrative Court confirmed for the Saturday issue of the Nova daily that four cases had been formed in the procedures against the decision of the Government of Serbia from January 2022 by which the project was stopped, two against the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and three against the Ministry of Finance.

The first two lawsuits, according to the court, were filed on May 13, 2022, and the procedures pertain to the decision of the Government of Serbia to cancel the decisions of the Ministry of Environmental Protection on the underground exploitation of boron and lithium and on the environmental impact assessment.

The second two lawsuits were filed against the Government because its Administrative Commission had rejected the complaints of Rio Sava, whereas the two lawsuits against the Ministry of Agriculture were filed due to inspection measures.

The basis of the dispute in the cases against the Ministry of Finance, according to the Administrative Court, is the tax.
