The minister of finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, said today the Government of Serbia combined Keynesianism and neoliberalism in its economic policy, as that was the only recipe for success in the unprecedented global crisis.

At the session of the National Assembly of Serbia where the 2024 Serbian Budget Bill is being considered, in response to a question by the MP Miodrag Gavrilovic (Democratic Party) about which kind of economic policy Serbia was implementing, he said that “the policy of Keynesianism entails the policy of state interventionism, for the state to manage all economic flows in any way possible.”

– We are trying not to do so, given that we are in favor of the market economy principles, but we also don’t allow the state not to have any say, because that secures a stable growth and avoids the crisis, so we therefore implement a policy that combines Keynesianism and neoliberalism – Mali said.
