The traffic route from the Hungarian to the Romanian border, also known as the “Vojvodina Smile”, will be extended from Kikinda to Srpska Crnja, announced the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Goran Vesic.

Vesic added that the plan enabled a quick starting of the construction of the first 5.5 kilometers from Backi Breg, for which there is a construction permit and for which, as he said, the expropriation has been completed.

– We will start working on amending the plan immediately, because the “Vojvodina Smile” will be extended from Kikinda to Srpska Crnja – Vesic wrote on his official Facebook profile.

The future road will be 164,392 km long and designed for speeds up to 100 km/h. The total area covered by the spatial plan is 11,273.42 hectares.

The fast route will connect two border crossings and, between them, Sombor, Kula, Vrbas, Becej, Novi Becej and Kikinda.

The beginning of the construction of the “smiley” traffic route on the section of the road Backi Breg-Nakovo is planned for 2023, Vesic announced recently.
