Local Company to Build Factory for Production of Innovative Ecological Adhesive for Plasterboards in Zrenjanin

The City Administration of Zrenjanin has notified the public that Ecoglobal BTD doo from Novi Sad has filed the request for deciding on the necessity of the environmental impact assessment of the project of the construction of a factory for the extrusion of starch in that city.

As said, the future factory would produce modified extruded starch for technical application in the production of plasterboards, but also in the paper industry and for various pelletizing processes, as an adhesive.

The capacity of the factory will be the production of 13 tons of extruded starch a day.

The plan is for the factory to be built at BB Seceranski Drum Street.

According to the website of Ecoglobal BTD, which produces various types of modified starch, the company has developed the innovative product Ecostarch K, a technological solution for plasterboards which will replace the current way plasterboards are produced with an environmentally friendly process.

– The current standard production of plasterboards, which are used in great quantities as the basic material in the production of residential and office facilities in which people spend time, contains chemical reagents which could be harmful to people’s health and the environment. The aim of this innovative solution is to minimize the risk of the harmful effect of construction materials and secure a healthy environment for people’s everyday lives – it is said.

The company explains that Ecostarch K is an adhesive which connects and binds the plaster mass into a whole and then collects excess water and moisture and removes it from the plaster mass, which then creates a thin water film between the plaster mass and paper, so that, in the process of the drying of a plaster cardboard panel, the evaporation of the water leads to the plaster sticking to the paper.

It is added that Ecoglobal BTD won the award for the ecological innovation in 2020 from the World Bank and the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia in a competition of over 600 projects for the product Ecostarch K.
