Plan for “Vojvodina Smile” Road Published – Route of 164 km to Feature 11 Interchanges and 12 Surface Intersections

The Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection published in the Information Booklet of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina the Spatial Plan of the special-purpose area of the infrastructural corridor of the IB-grade state road Hungarian border crossing (Backi Breg)-Sombor-Kula-Vrbas-Srbobran-Becej-Kikinda-Romanian border crossing (Nakovo). The future traffic route, also known as the “Vojvodina Smile”, will be 164,392 km long and is designed for speeds up to 100 km/h.

The total area covered by the spatial plan is 11,273.42 ha.

The border of the plan encompasses parts of the city of Sombor, cadaster municipalities of Backi Breg, Kolut, Bezdan, Gakovo, Sombor 2, Kljajicevo, Telecka; municipality of Kula: cadaster municipalities Sivac, Crvenka and Kula; municipality of Vrbas: cadaster municipality Vrbas; municipality of Srbobran: cadaster municipality Srbobran; municipality of Becej: cadaster municipalities Radicevic and Becej; municipality of Novi Becej: cadaster municipalities Novi Becej, Novo Milosevo and Bocar; and the city of Kikinda: cadaster municipalities Kikinda and Nakovo.


The corridor of the Sombor-Kikinda motor-vehicle road begins at the surface roundabout right after the border crossing Backi Breg (km 0+000) and ends in the zone of the City of Kikinda, on the surface roundabout – exit toward the settlement of Nakovo and the border crossing Nakovo (km 164+392).

The road is designed for speeds up to 100 km/h.

On this corridor, the plan is to build 11 interchanges and 12 surface intersections, to the end of connecting the motor-vehicle road with the surrounding settlements and the lower-grade road network.
