Azerbaijani Embassy opens in Belgrade

The Embassy of Azerbaijan was last night opened in Belgrade. After President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened the embassy in the presence of representatives of the two countries’ governments, diplomatic corps and religious communities, Jeremic said that Azerbaijan is one of the countries on whose unreserved support Serbia can count.

What makes us closer is the difficult situation in which the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries are at risk, said Jeremic, adding that mutual diplomatic support has led to a friendship that has multiple dimensions.

He said that Azerbaijan and Serbia were building comprehensive relations in culture, science, technology and other areas, and that Azerbaijan's Embassy in Belgrade and Serbia’s Embassy in Baku would provide better opportunities and capacities for mutual cooperation and support.

The Minister said that the two countries had a new era of cooperation ahead of them and announced that there would be many joint projects in various domains.

Jeremic also expressed satisfaction with his appointment as co-chairman of the Serbian-Azerbaijani mixed committee.

Aliyev stressed that that day would remain remembered by the signing of a number of agreements on cooperation in various fields, as well as by the opening of the Tasmajdan Park with the monuments to former president of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and writer Milorad Pavic.

He said that that gave further incentive for future cooperation and added that he expected the relations between the two countries to successfully develop in the future.

We support each others through international institutions, said Aliyev and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan's Embassy to Belgrade would work hard and achieve significant results.
