The Austrian company Palfinger started building a factory in Nis today, where it will produce parts for lifts and cranes and in which it will employ 375 people by 2027. The investment is worth over EUR 35.5 million and, as announced, the production should start in 2024.

The beginning of the works in Nis was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the minister of economy, Slobodan Cvetkovic, the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Goran Vesic, and the mayor of Nis, Dragana Sotirovski.

– I expect Palfinger to also open a development-research center in Nis. This company was provided with a subsidy of EUR 4.6 million from the budget of Serbia for the opening of the factory in Nis. The salaries in Palfinger’s factory will be higher than the Serbian average – Vucic said.

He added that he believed that the Austrian company would operate in Serbia for dozens of years and that it would attract new investors.

Andreas Klauser, the CEO of Palfinger, pointed out that the company had been provided with good business conditions and quality workforce in Nis, and Christian Ebner, the ambassador of Austria to Serbia, pointed out that Austrian companies in Serbia employed 24,000 employees and expanded their business.

Palfinger is an international technological and mechanical company and a leading world producer and provider of innovative solutions for lifts and lifting systems, and it has around 12,500 employees in 30 locations in the world.
