Instead of being closed, Channel 3 RTS could be sold for at least 10 millions EUR
"The state concluded that it was better to close 3K, Channel 3 RTS, than to privatize it, sell it and gain a profit.", declaired on March, 14th, 2006, the chief and executive editor of 3K, Igor Miklja.
On the occasion of closing of Channel 3, announced for April,1st, 2006, said, that the state had given up of the television and "easily gave up its property", because the evaluation of the Agency for privatization is that 3K could be sold for at least 10 millions eur.
Miklja reminded that in 2002 3K had been separated from the system of state television, but that with the new leadership of television with general director Aleksandar Tijanic, 3K was given back under protectorate of RTS. The deal was then, as he claims, that 3K comes back to RTS and be a competition to commercial televisions on the market, but in the process of transformation of RTS in a public service would be privatized, which did not happen.
A journalist of that television, Dragan Pesikan, said that 3K brought 20% of the total marketing income for RTS, which was about 150.000 eur a month, once the paycheck for workers and space lease in Sava Center was deducted. And by saying this, he claims that Aleksandar Tijanic's statement that 3K makes daily loses of around 500.000 dinars is inaccurate.
