Stadiums in Serbia to Be Run by Foreigners – Provider to Be Selected in Next Six Months, Vucic Announces

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated on the occasion of the visit to the new stadium in Leskovac that Serbia would choose “one of the best providers for the management of stadiums” six months later.

Vucic said that only grass maintenance at the Leskovac stadium cost EUR 12,000 to 15,000 a month, that it would be initially taken on by the Football Association of Serbia and then the foreign operator.

– We are not able to do it, there always have to be concerts and events. And grass alone costs EUR 15,000 a month here. Not to mention the electricity and everything else. And it all pays back when you have a good operator. It is important to maintain all this. We used to be prone to building all sorts of things and then have it become completely dilapidated 10 years later – said Vucic, as reported by N1.

He added that a part of the costs would be “returned” through outlets and features.

– They will run several facilities, as a state, we will achieve the contract, a part of the costs will be returned through outlets, and a part through the features, concerts, movie screenings, it will be done by the best people in the world, I don’t know how to do it – Vucic said, as reported by the 021 portal.

When asked how it was possible for the Belgrade Arena to bring prominent names and still operate with losses, Vucic announced that they were considering for the management to pertain to the Arena as well, because those who used it at that moment paid minimal prices.
