Agreements on Construction of Line Infrastructure for EXPO Complex Already Signed – Financing of Announced Investment Partly from Loans, Partly from “Own Funds”

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali has stated that the agreements on the construction of the line infrastructure necessary for the future EXPO complex have already been signed, and among other things, this entails around 8 km of traffic routes, the construction of substations, a gas pipeline, a heating plant, a sewer system, the Ministry of Finance announced. The agreement for the preparatory works for EXPO and the National Stadium has already been signed as well.

He added that tons of sand and rock would be brought to the area for the necessary leveling of the ground and that the construction of the National Stadium and other facilities would begin seven to eight months later. In that place, 1,500 apartments will be built as well, to be used by the participants in the exhibit, and at a later stage, they will be offered to citizens.

Financing partly from loans, partly from “own funds”

The minister denied the criticism coming from the public saying that Serbia had no money for said investments and pointed out that, in the world of finance, it was normal for investments to be financed partly from own funds and partly from loans.

– We will finance it partly from our own funds, and partly from loans, because that’s how it’s done – the minister said.

He said that Serbia had no public debt problems, and that it was at 50.5% of the GDP at that moment.
