Serbia will complete its section of the highway from Sremska Raca to Kuzmin by the end of the year, while an integrated border crossing will be established in Raca, which will be put into operation in 2025, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran said today Vesic.

In Banja Luka, he spoke with the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Srpska, Nedeljko Cubrilovic, about the further improvement of cooperation and joint infrastructure projects.

The interlocutors assessed that Serbia and the Republika Srpska have never had better cooperation when it comes to traffic connectivity, since Serbia is building two highways and two expressways towards the Republika Srpska, the Ministry announced.

- We are extremely proud of the fact that we have four traffic connections between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska. The first is the section of the Sremska Raca–Kuzmin highway, 18 kilometers long, as well as the bridge over the Sava, which is completely finished - Vesic pointed out.

Also, according to him, the Ruma-Sabac highway is being constructed, and it connects to the high-speed motorway to Loznica, with two branches towards Srpska, via Badovinac and Sepko near Zvornik, which is another connection with Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska.

The minister reminded that the highway to Pozega is ending, from where one highway will go towards Duga Poljana and Montenegro, while the other highway will lead towards Kotroman, i.e. Visegrad.

Cubrilovic emphasized that infrastructure projects are extremely important for regional connectivity, adding that the Republic of Srpska, for its part, is doing everything to connect with Serbia with the highest quality road infrastructure possible.

- The Republic of Srpska is determined to expand the highway network, and regional traffic connectivity is one of the priorities of the Government of the RS - he underlined.

According to him, the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway is a capital project, which will help improve road infrastructure and communication, as well as economic development.

He expressed confidence that the projects will be completed within the stipulated time.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that the reconstruction of the railway line Belgrade-Ruma-Zvornik-Doboj-Sarajevo will be carried out, itself a joint project of the railways of Serbia, Republic of Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The interlocutors also discussed the improvement of cooperation in the field of air transport and the possibility of increasing the number of flights between Belgrade and Banja Luka.

The ministers emphasized that all activities and procedures for the project of the construction of the Trebinje airport as a facility of strategic importance for the RS and Serbia are intensively carried out, and that the next steps are awaited at the BiH level - the signing of the memorandum of understanding on the construction of the airport between the Council of Ministers Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of Serbia.

Also, the improvement of cooperation between the Automobile Association of Republika Srpska and the Automobile Association of Serbia was discussed, i.e. the improvement of the road assistance and the prevention of traffic safety.
