Construction of the oil derivatives reservoir in Smederevo will be completed by the end of 2023 - Current reserves sufficient for three months

In Smederevo, six new tanks for the storage of oil derivatives are being constructed. They will be able to store nearly 100,000 tons of oil, said the Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic, during her tour of the works.

The investment is worth about RSD 4 billion, and the work on the remaining four reservoirs is expected to be completed by the end of this year, according to the ministry's official website.

- Now we have to focus on the supporting infrastructure, the construction of the necessary pumping stations and water tanks. For that, we will provide additional funds so that the new reservoirs can be put to use as soon as possible - the minister stated.

According to her words, the mandatory reserves of oil derivatives increased last year by 54% compared to 2021.

- We secured additional quantities this year as well, and we will continue to do so. At this moment, we have stocks of oil and oil derivatives from various sources, enough for 91 days of average consumption, and if there is a disturbance in the global markets, we have greater certainty that we can overcome these issues - said Djedovic.
