PE Airports of Serbia: The new airport building in Nis to receive its first passengers next summer

Director of the PE Airports of Serbia Mihajlo Zdravkovic said that the construction of the new terminal building at Constantine the Great Airport in Nis will be completed by the end of September, after which the equipment will follow. That way, the terminal should receive its first passengers during the summer of next year.

Zdravkovic also said that the Nis airport received two new fire engines, since the previous vehicles dated back all the way to the 1980s.

- By the end of this year, two new ambulances are scheduled to arrive, so we will complete the equipment replacement - said Zdravković.

He reiterated that the airport acquired electric elevators for luggage loading, and replaced the old equipment hauling tractors with electric ones.

President of the Assembly of Airports of Serbia, Ivan Divac, during his tour of the Nis airport, said that the value of the two new fire engines is around EUR 1.5 million.

- Since the state took over the management of the airport, around EUR 7 million has been invested in the equipment alone - said Divac.

According to his words, Constantine the Great airport served about 380,000 passengers last year, and this year, as of July 1, it has served 209,000 passengers.

Divac believes that this year, Nis airport will exceed its record of 2019, when it served 420,000 passengers.
