The Ministry of Agriculture is currently negotiating with foreign purchasers about the export of Serbian raspberries. The aim is to connect small and medium cooling plants, of which there are the most, with new purchasers. The expansion of direct jobs to small and medium cooling plants will contribute to the preservation of the Serbian raspberry brand, but also a fair market game, considering that certain big cooling plants do not operate in line with fair market rules, and they are not showing social responsibility either.

In order to develop a fair market game in which individuals do not blackmail others and in which they do not lower raspberry prices, but also in order to preserve Serbian raspberries, the Ministry of Agriculture is actively engaged on bringing new purchasers from abroad. This initiative will bring foreign purchasers, which will visit colling plants and raspberry plantations and make sure of the quality and the possibility of doing business on the site.

In addition to the ministry, the realization involves offices of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS). There are also negotiations with international organizations which have projects which aim to strengthen the competitiveness of the local agricultural-food industry through education and enabling small and medium business entities to enter the international market on their own.

What can the state do and what has been done so far?

The fact is that the state cannot make any private company pay the price they don’t want to pay. What the state can do is create an environment.

The message of the ministry has been the same from the start – social responsibility and equal distribution when the year is bad. The aim of the ministry, which has been conveyed to the cooling plants, is to protect the primary producers.

So far, talks have also opened for new and big markets. The primary among them – China, India and Saudi Arabia.
