The foundation stone was laid down in the presence of the minister of mining and energy, Dubravka Djedovic, the ambassador of China to Serbia, Chen Bo, and representatives of the companies which are realizing the project – the Chinese PowerChina and the German AVR Solar Park.
Djedovic cited the information that the solar potential of Serbia is close to 30% higher than the potentials of Germany, which is one of the leaders in Europe when it comes to the production of electricity, using this form of energy.
The minister pointed out that the built capacities in Serbia at that moment amounted to – 157 solar power plants with a power of 23.3 megawatts, far lower than the potentials…
According to her, with the amendments to the Law on the Use of RES and the adoption of the three-year plan for auctions for market premiums, Serbia has created a predictable framework for investors in RES.
She emphasized that the state stimulated the citizens to be active participants in energy transition through the subsidies for energy efficiency measures and announced that, for that purpose, they would sign agreements with 131 local self-government units in the current week.
Djedovic explained that the goal was to double the capacities for the production of energy from the solar power through auctions for 50 MW of solar power plants which were in progress and announced that the public invitation for the selection of a strategic partner for the construction of self-balancing solar power plants, with a power of 1 GW, would also open not long after.
In the next couple of years, in addition to the state’s plans for investing in this important energy resource, we also plan to have close to 300 MW of solar power plants built through the auction program, she noted.
The minister pointed out that it was very important to expand the citizens’ consciousness about the benefits of producing electrical energy for own needs and to have the number of prosumers grow constantly.
At the moment, there are close to 1,800 of them, and the total power of the solar power plants they have set up amounts to 21 MW, Djedovic said and announced that the state would continue giving subsidies for the installation of solar panels.
According to her, this is planned through the new program of measures of energy efficiency for households, which is worth EUR 50 million.
Solar energy is a good example of what we want to achieve in the whole energy transition, to have both the state and the industry, both the public and the private sector, and all of us as citizens, take part in it and for everybody to have their role and their responsibility, the minister said, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
