Work Group for Technical and Financial Realization of Highway from Pozega to Boljare Formed – Government and Chinese CRBC Working on the Project Together

The Government of Serbia has formed the work group whose task will entail the technical and financial realization of the Belgrade-South Adriatic project, that is, the section from Pozega to Boljare.

The task of the work group is to cooperate with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for the purpose of the preparation of project documentation, the defining of acceptable forms of financing, construction, maintenance and exploitation of the section from Pozega to Boljare (Pozega-Duga Poljana and Pozega-Boljare).

The chairman of the work group is Goran Vesic, the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, and the deputy is Mihailo Misic, the state secretary at that ministry. The work group has another 13 members, representatives of the ministries of construction and finance and the PE Roads of Serbia.

Expert and administrative-technical support to the work group will be provided by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

The construction of the section from Pozega to Duga Poljana near Sjenica, on the Milos Veliki highway, in which around EUR 1.7 billion will be invested, at least “on paper”, started on March 20, 2022. It was announced at the time that the 75-km traffic route should be completed four years later, and the main contractor is the Chinese company CRBC.

On the section from Pozega to Duga Poljana, 51 kilometers of the route will consist of tunnels and bridges.

That traffic route is part of the highway to Montenegro, which goes down the route Pozega-Arilje-Ivanjica-Boljare, around 106 kilometers long.
