Opening of Tender for Analysis of Possibility of Construction of New Airports in Serbia Planned

The opening of the tender for an analysis of the possibility of the construction of new airports in Serbia is planned, said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, during his talk with the director general of Eurocontrol, Raul Medina. According to the ministry’s website, they talked about the cooperation of Serbia and said international air traffic safety organization.

Minister Vesic pointed out that Serbia paid great attention to the development of air traffic and safety in air traffic, making the cooperation with Eurocontrol so important.

– Our country is the regional leader in the development of air traffic – Vesic underlined on that occasion.

He notified Medina of the increase of the capacity of the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport to 14 million passengers, after the French company Vinci completed the new terminal, and pointed out that the state and then company were working together to solve the problems with the crowding at the airport as a result of the lack of employees in the baggage sorting area.

As he said, by the end of the year, over seven million passengers are expected to pass through the Belgrade airport, which will be an all-time high.


He also pointed to the considerable growth of the national airline carrier Air Serbia, which has increased the number of flights by as much as 40% and introduced flights to another 22 destinations this year. He said that “last year, not a dinar was set aside from the budget for that company.”

He noted that, for the first time, there were two local air lines in Serbia, to Kraljevo and Nis.
