Can something healthy truly be that tasty? This was the prejudice that the Perovic family from Zemun faced when they searched for an alternative to sweets. As they had always enjoyed the sweet taste, they realized that it was not the kind of diet that was good for their health or sustainable in the long run.

– We decided it was time for a change and started researching healthier alternatives. That’s when we discovered the pumpkin and we were surprised what a powerful plant it is! The pumpkin belongs among the foodstuffs with the lowest number of calories, as there are only 26 calories in 100 grams of the pumpkin fruit, it is rich with vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B complex – Aleksandra Perovic says for eKapija.

They realized that what’s healthy can also be tasty when they started producing. They experimented and came up with a healthy and, as they say, delicious recipe named “Bundi”.

– We decided to present ourselves with this product, because we had seen that people really liked it and that it was precisely what the market needed. A proper diet is extremely important, especially nowadays, so we believe that it is very important to offer a healthier choice to the consumers – our interviewee points out.

“Bundi” is a product based on white pumpkins, which the Petrovic family grows on one hectare of land. They added squeezed orange juice, lemon, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla to it and created a spread that you can eat with a spoon, as dessert after lunch, that you can fill pancakes with, making for a nice dessert for your family and friends, that you can spread on a slice of bread for breakfast or dinner, and you can also add it to an oatmeal.

– We all know what a pumpkin is, but few people know how to prepare it. People mostly opt for baked pumpkin, pumpkin pie or sometimes a potage of some kind. When we started this whole operation, we had an idea to make something different. We thought about which flavor the pumpkin would combine well with, and when we tried the combination of pumpkin and orange, we were delighted. We hit home run when we also added lemon, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla. That’s how we got to what “Bundi” is today – Perovic reveals for our portal.
