Plan for Reconstruction of Kraljevo-KiM Railroad – Electrification, 80 km/h, New Bridges and Tunnels

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has put up for early public inspection the Spatial Plan of the special-purpose area of the infrastructural corridor of the Kraljevo-Rudnica railroad.

As emphasized in the Plan, the reconstruction of the rail infrastructure of the international railroad E-85 (Lapovo-Kragujevac-Kraljevo-Kosovo Polje-Djeneral Jankovic-North Macedonian border) on the Kraljevo-Rudnica section, will directly contribute to the quality, accessibility, the level of competitiveness and a more dynamic development of central and southwest parts of the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

The plan entails the reconstruction, electrification and modernization of the railroad on the Kraljevo-Rudnica section of around 70 km, for speeds up to 80 km/h.

The current maximum train speed is 60 km/h, and the railroad was built as non-electrified one-track railroad.

On the majority of the sections for which reorganization is proposed, it is necessary to build new bridges and tunnels.

The railroad has a total of 15 rail stations and stops, which are to be kept, and for some stations, such as Mataruska Banja, Josanicka Banja, Brvenik and Rudnica, the manner of the extension of the facilities is to be tested.

The plan is available for public inspection until June 15.
