This, as said, pertains to the permit for the construction of a bulk cargo terminal of the port in Belgrade in a location in Krnjaca.
The deadline for the preparation of the approval planning is three years, and the value of the tender has been estimated at RSD 141.7 million.
According to the technical documentation, the development of port economy in the territory of the city of Belgrade entails the carrying out of the port activity of the reloading of bulk cargo in another two locations which will comprise the port area of the port in Belgrade, in addition to the construction of the new port in Belgrade, which would feature several special-purpose terminals and whose exact location is yet to be set.
The Detailed Regulation Plan of the business zone between the SMT traffic route, the Pancevo Road and the Danube envisages a larger area for port activities on the Danube coast, and the construction of a bulk cargo terminal of the port of Belgrade is also planned within this zone.
The planned capacities of the terminal, a said, should enable the reloading and storage of at least 2,000,000 tons of bulk cargo (aggregates).
At the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia issued the location requirements for the phase-based construction of the bulk cargo in Krnjaca. Construction in two phases is planned.
The first phase, among other things, encompasses the construction of an operational quay, works on forming and developing the territory and the water area of the terminal, the construction of an abutment, internal traffic routes, water, hydrant and sewer networks, as well as the construction of a management building.
The second phase of the construction encompasses the construction of facilities of port operators in line with the dynamics of activating the entire complex, which is not the subject of this project.
Bids may be submitted by July 4, 2023 and more details can be found HERE.
Let us remind that, recently, the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, announced that the construction of the new Port of Belgrade would be done through a public-private partnership. He pointed out that the location for the construction of the new Port of Belgrade had been set and that it would be on the left coast of the Danube, “a small distance away from the Pupin Bridge.”
Let us remind that this location has been in the running before, along with the Port of Pancevo and a location in Krnjaca.
At the end of 2020, the then assistant minister for water management, Veljko Kovacevic, said that three options for the new location were being considered for the exact location for the construction of the new port in Belgrade: a location 10 km upstream from the Pupin Bridge, a location in Krnjaca and the Port of Pancevo as the Belgrade port.
He previously said that the location upstream from the Pupin Bridge, in whose proximity the construction of an industrial-technology park in Borca together with partners from China was planned, had the greatest potential.
It was also announced that the construction of the Port of Belgrade could be supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
