Record Investments of EIB Global in 2022

The developmental branch of the European Investment Bank for countries outside the European Union, EIB Global financed EUR 10.8 billion last year, the first year of its existence. That is 50% more than the bank invested in countries outside the EU in 2021, the institution announced. This amount also includes the sum of 1.7 billion in previously approved funds which were redirected as urgent aid to Ukraine.

As they point out, EIB Group last year continued supporting the development of the health system, access to drinking water, accessible and renewable energy sources. The financing meant for Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa reached EUR 4.1 billion in total.

For the countries of the Western Balkans, the bank approved loans worth EUR 824 million, along with over EUR 11 million in grants. These funds for the region are expected to incite investments worth nearly EUR 3.5 billion.
