The foundation stone for the factory was laid down in July last year.
The opening of the factory was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, ministers at the Government of Serbia, as well as representatives of the Japanese company and the city of Novi Sad.
Vucic said that bringing Japanese investments was of utmost importance for Serbia, not just because of the employment of a large number of people and new technologies, but also because it was a push forward in terms of the future cooperation of the two countries.
– To us, Japan is a very important partner, the annual trade between our countries amounts to EUR 320 million – Vucic said and added that it was important for Nidec to continue with other phases of investments in Serbia.
He pointed out that Serbia needed to strengthen its technical faculties, because of foreign investors’ interest in the future staff educated there.
The investment in Serbia, as Nidec announced earlier, is part of the company’s long-term strategy, and launching the factory in Novi Sad is the first step toward the forming of the European industrial park Nidec.
Nidec, founded 50 years ago, is among the leaders when it comes to the production of electric motors, with the highest share in the global market of spindle motors that power hard drives.
The company operates in 46 countries and contains 347 companies within it. It employs 106,000 people worldwide.
