The Austrian company Palfinger today officially announced the construction of a production facility in Nis. One of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative solutions for lifts plans to invest over RSD 4 billion (around EUR 35.5 million) in the new component factory in Nis.

The plan is for the production in Nis to start in 2024, when the first phase of the construction is to be finished. By the completion of the factory in 2027, the company announces around 375 new jobs.

– With the new factory in Nis, we are expanding our capacities and securing the optimal use of all the other production locations in Europe – stated the CEO of Palfinger, Andreas Klauser.

Following the completion of the first phase of the construction in 2024, Palfinger will gradually establish the production of subcomponents for a wide range of production lines, from loading lifts to access platforms, in Nis.

– Thanks to the qualified workforce, the strategic location and the economic support to development, Nis is an ideal production spot for Palfinger. We see this investment as the beginning of a successful long-term partnership. The Government of Serbia knows how to offer attractive conditions for a successful founding to international tech companies such as Palfinger – Klauser said.

As pointed out, with the new location in Nis, the company is expanding the production capacities in strategic proximity to the existing factories in Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.

In over 30 facilities and in a network of around 5,000 services, the Austrian company Palfinger employs over 12,500 people.

The construction of the facility of the Austrian company in Nis has been announced several times in the past period, and the mayor of Nis, Dragana Sotirovski, has stated that the Government of Serbia has declared this investment and investment of state importance.

City councilor Nenad Stankovic also stated earlier that “a very certain” construction of the Austrian factory Palfinger in Nis was planned for 2023 and that the company had obtained state land of around 7 ha in close proximity to the Zumtobel factory.
