Take a Look at the Preliminary Design for the Development of the Ovcar-Kablar Gorge (PHOTO)

The Ovcar-Kablar Gorge will become a natural oasis for tourists of all profiles, adventure, health and spiritual, announced the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

As pointed out, the Government of Serbia and the government’s intersector work group for the development of the Ovcar-Kablar Gorge, led by the Ministry of Construction, is financing and carrying out a range of projects in the domains of infrastructure, tourism and ecology.

– The projects whose realization is to start in June include: The Welcome Gates, the Kablar Skywalk lookout, the completion of the planning of the wet dredging of Lake Medjuvrsje through a bilateral agreement with Hungary; the completion of the planning of the construction of the Rehabilitation Center in Ovcar Banja, waterworks and sewer in Ovcar Banja; the development of the coastal area from the terminal toward the Medjuvrsje dam, the construction of a parking lot at Lake Medjuvrsje, the continuation of the construction of the road from Ovcar Banja to Kablar, traffic routes and a bridge in the municipality of Lucani and many others – says the press release of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

They remind that, in the past period, a range of projects has been realized in this area, such as 1. The amphitheater, square and park of Ovcar Banja 2. The terminal at Lake Medjuvrsje 3. The reconstruction of the Ovcar Banja rail station 4. The reconstruction of the access route toward the peak of Kablar with two parking lots 1.5 km 5. The cleaning of the grass and straw at Lake Medjuvrsje – over 600 tons of various waste dredged 6. The Nature Center in Ovcar Banja (which has become the main stop for schools and natural science students) 7. The parking lot of the Blagovestenje Monastery in Ovcar Banja; and the initiation of the preparation and planning of many other projects, considering that there are plenty of piled up problems that are to be solved in phases, but as soon as possible, the press release adds.

As said, people have already started returning from abroad, as they have seen a new opportunity for living and working in their home area, for the opening of new small enterprises, the development of rural tourism, the organization of various sports and cultural events etc.
