At yesterday’s session, the Government of Serbia adopted the Decision which recommends the shutting down of boiler rooms with a capacity below 50 MW which use coal, mazut or fuel oil as the energy source, and for which there are technical possibilities for connecting to the remote heating system or to the gas pipeline.

Considering that the use of boiler rooms with a heating power below 50 MW on an annual level considerably contributes to the total emission of RM 10 and RM 2.5 suspended particles, the Work Group for the systemic solving of air pollution has recognized the importance of their shutting down in public institutions which currently use coal, mazut or oil as the energy source, and for which there are technical possibilities for connecting to the central heating system or the local distribution gas pipeline, the Decision says.

A deadline of 24 months from the date of the adoption of this Decision was given for the connection, and it is defined based on the time needed for the preparation of project-technical documentation, the obtaining of permits and the execution of works, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
