The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic, announced today that the Government of Serbia would adopt the list of priority investments in energy by the end of May, for which realization over EUR 15 billion would be required.

– The investments will pertain to the entire energy sector, production of electrical energy, gas sector, oil sector. The first indications are that we will need over EUR 15 billion in the coming years in order to reach what we are striving for – Djedovic said at the opening of the two-day conference Belgrade Energy Forum.

She added that over EUR 10 billion would be invested in production capacities and that the rest would be invested in the transfer network and the distribution system.

As she pointed out, investments will be made in the most important things, those without which Serbia’s energy goals until 2050 cannot be reached, and which entail energy transition and energy security.

As she said, there will be more investments in solar energy form state, public production capacities, and these are self-balancing solar power plants, with high capacities of up to 1 GW.

– The reversible hydro power plant Bistrica will be built, and we will also consider whether the construction of the hydro power plant Djerdap 3 is economically and technically feasible. The plan is to also build the solar power plant Morava, the wind farm Kostolac, Vlasina HPP, but also to revitalize the existing hydro power plants – Djedovic specified.

The minister said that it required a strong national energy company like Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), “which has to shoulder those investments in cooperation, that is, strategic partnership, with those who have worked in that field for years and who have more experience and knowledge, such as partners from EU states, China and the USA.”

We will join forces with the best and those “from which we can learn the most,” Djedovic said.
