Sustainable development leads to business success - Henkel registered 13% bigger revenue in 2010
Henkel in Serbia had 13% bigger revenue in 2010 than in 2009, which is the largest growth registered by that company in 2010 in Central and East Europe.
- Henkel's total net sales in 2010 amounted to RSD 9.076 billion, 12.7% more than in 2009. Export grew by 11%, while the total value of exported products reached EUR 39.5 million. All three sectors - Laundry&Home Care, Cosmetics/Toiletries, and Adhesive Technologies, contributed to the business success in Serbia - Georg Grassl, the President of the company Henkel Serbia, said at today's conference occasioned by the presentation of Henkel's business results for year 2010.
Henkel Serbia Finance Director Mirela Jovanovic spoke about operations in plants in Serbia.
- Annual production in our plants in Indjija and Krusevac amounted to 169,780 tonnes, 70,256 tonnes of which were exported to 12 European countries, 11% more than in 2009 – Ms. Jovanovic pointed out.
Henkel Serbia exports products to Austria, Russia, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine.

According to the words of the President of Henkel Serbia, the company registered EUR 15,092 billion worth of sales on global level in 2010, 11.2% more than in 2009. The adjusted operating profit of the company grew by 36.5%, reaching EUR 1,862 billion.
- Adhesive Technologies performed exceptionally well, reporting an increase in sales of 11.8 percent. The Cosmetics/Toiletries business sector continued its encouraging growth trend, registering growth of 4.8 percent and thus substantially outperforming the stagnating market. Laundry & Home Care achieved organic sales growth of 1.5 percent in a slightly declining market – said Mr. Grassl.
The forecast for year 2011 is optimistic, although the management of Henkel still finds the business environment quite challenging.
- Henkel expects to increase total sales by 3 to 5% and register 13% higher adjusted operating profit in 2011, and the plan is that the sales revenue in 2012 amounts to 14% - Mr. Grasl announced.

People at Henkel underline that the company achieved these excellent business results while maintaining a balance between economic interests and a high social and ecological awareness.
- We increased the level of environment protection in 2010 by reducing energy consumption by 21%, water consumption by 26%, and waste by 24%. In the same period, the number of accidents at work dropped by 29% - Mr. Grassl stressed.
The management of Henkel claims that the global strategy for sustainable development has no "weight" if not applied locally.
- Over the last few years, the specific emission of wastewater in Krusevac has been reduced by 69% per tonne, while the specific overall needs for water have dropped by 67%. Water and electricity consumption in the plant in Indjija have been cut by 67% and 42%, respectively - said the President of Henkel Serbia.
New shampoos and hair dyes in Serbian market
- We have launched a new Gliss Kur line of products and a new Palette line of hair dyes. The new hair dye Perfect Mousse is a revolutionary dye in the form of a foam. It hit the markets of the USA and Japan last year and appeared in the market of Serbia few days ago.
