Government Removes Limitation on Prices of Certain Kinds of Meat

The Government of Serbia has adopted the decision by which the limitation on the prices of certain kinds of pork and poultry is removed, Blic Biznis learns.

Concretely, Article 7 and Article 8 of the Decree are removed, namely, limitations on certain kinds of pork meat (boneless pork leg, boneless pork shoulder, pork neck with bones and pork loin with bones) and fresh whole poultry.

The obvious question now is whether the removal of these limitations will lead to price increases as well.

– We won’t let the price increase happen. People should not be worried! Our primary interest remains to secure stable prices and to have the market regularly supplied – Tomislav Momirovic, the minister of internal and foreign trade of Serbia, said for Blic Biznic.

This pertains to the Decree on the Limiting of Prices of Basic Foodstuffs, which, to the end of preventing and removing the harmful consequences of the market disturbance regarding the supply, limits the production prices and retail and wholesale prices of basic foodstuffs.
