Vucic said that “today is a great day for Serbia and a huge step forward”.
– ZF has changed the future of both Pancevo and Banat – he said and added that the construction of the highway to Zrenjanin and the fast route to Vrsac was to start and that both Pancevo and the company would benefit greatly from it. He said that EUR 250 million had been invested in the new facility of the German company and that 600 jobs would be created at “the most digital and greenest ZF factory in the whole world”.
Talking about the successful economic cooperation with Germany, Vucic said that, in the first nine months of 2022, the trade with Germany had exceeded EUR 6 billion and that it was expected to be at EUR 7.5 billion by the end of the year, whereas, two years later, it should be higher than EUR 10 billion.
In 2019, in the industrial zone in Pancevo, ZF opened a factory for the production of car, ship and rail components, as well as an engineering center which spreads on 3,000 square meters. In 2018, ZF agreed an investment of EUR 160 million for the construction of the first and second phases of the factory in Pancevo, as well as the expansion of the global production network of ZF, and received, without a fee, over nine hectares of construction land from the City of Pancevo, as well as subsidies from the state budget.
In the second phase of investments in this facility, ZF has set aside additional funds in the amount of EUR 35.6 million for the construction and equipping of ZF Serbia Engineering Center Pancevo.
At the moment, ZF employs around 1,700 people in Serbia and the company’s total investment is around EUR 190 million.
Stephan von Schuckmann, Member of the Board of Management of the ZF Group, said that the new facility would open in the spring and that it would be the first ZF factory with zero emissions of harmful gases.
German Ambassador Anke Konrad said that the total investments of German companies in Serbia amounted to over EUR 4 billion and that their importance also lay in the fact that they had upgraded the environmental and social standards and introduced models of professional education.
– It is possible to achieve even more if Serbia advances toward the EU and harmonizes its policies with the EU to the benefit of the citizens and bilateral relations – she pointed out.
