While shoppers worldwide are preparing for massive discounts on the last Friday in November, this day traditionally gains on a different meaning at dm drogeries. The biggest drogerie chain in Europe is giving the Black Friday a more human meaning for the fourth year in a row, because, instead of a discount offer, dm will donate 5% of the total sales realized on November 25 to the national kitchens of the Red Cross of Serbia.
Everybody who buys at dm drogeries or the dm online store on that day will be able to give their contribution to this noble campaign, renamed as “Giving Friday”. As the company says, this campaign is carried out in all countries of the dm concern, on the very day that reflects the consumer mentality of the society.
– Symbolically, on the very Black Friday, the day that is associated with consumption and massive discounts in numerous stores worldwide, we chose to talk about the other side, primarily the problems of the growing world hunger and the importance of supporting the vulnerable populace categories. To us, it is therefore especially important to turn attention to these topics precisely now and we are glad that “Giving Friday” has become a kind of trademark of ours. We are extremely proud to provide our customers with the possibility of making smart and noble choices within this traditional humanitarian campaign year after year – stated dm Marketing Manager for Serbia and Macedonia Svetlana Jovanovic Mitic.
The drogerie chain dm started this campaign in 2019 under the slogan “Giving is the new black”, in order to carry out a global humanitarian initiative together with its customers, gifting a part of their sales proceeds to the institutions that particularly need help.
Let us remind that the company, together with its customers, also gave a philanthropic meaning to the Black Friday last year by donating RSD 3,500,000 to the national kitchens of the Red Cross, whereas in 2020, it donated RSD 3,000,000. Thanks to those donations, in the past two years, over 70 tons of food has been procured and prepared, enriching meals for over 27,000 people in 65 towns and municipalities in Serbia. This encompassed supplies for an average of two months, and in some areas, the food supplies lasted up to six months.
