The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has commenced the five-year project “Investments in Energy” worth USD 20 million, which aims to help the countries in the region identify and further develop energy projects.

– As is the case with many challenges that we face, this problem requires regional cooperation. We expect this activity to result in investments in energy projects in the region worth millions. I expect Serbia to play the key role in this program, which will help Serbia and the countries of the Western Balkans to ensure energy security in the future – stated the U.S. ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, while presenting the project.

The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, said while presenting the campaign “Better Energy in Serbia” that, for Serbia, in order to have energy security, “investments in new energy capacities, as well as an efficient implementation of the green energy transition and the strengthening of regional connections, are crucial”.

– Since 2001, over USD 882 million has been invested through the USAID of the total of USD 1.2 billion of American help to Serbia. The fields of energy and energy security are the most important topics on the global level today, since we are in the midst of a big energy crisis and I am glad that we will work together on the realization of projects – said Mihajlovic, according to the website of the ministry.
