This is revealed by Turkish media, which emphasize that their scientists had developed this project three months before the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, made the idea public in the middle of last week, the Novosti website writes.
Our experts estimate that it is realistic and very good for Serbia, because, in addition to further energy security, we will also have a financial benefit from collecting transit fees.
As reported by Turkish media, their scientists from the Faculty of Engineering at the Gumushane University have developed a project of a gas hub that will be able to transport up to 75 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
The head of the Geological Engineering Department at the Gumushane University, Nafiz Maden, emphasized that they would provide all-encompassing support to the realization of the project. He explained that the plan was for the energy source to be delivered to Europe through Thrace, an area at the extreme southeast end of the Balkan Peninsula, split between Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey.
– Turkey will distribute gas to Europe through three different routes – Maden said.
– The south leg will supply Italy, the middle one will go toward Serbia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania, and the north route will go to Romania, Slovenia, Hungary and farther to Germany.
