Warner Music Group (WMG) has bought a share in the Serbia record label Mascom. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.

The two companies plan to work together on forming a local network of artists who have the potential to penetrate the global market and thereby become part of the WMG family. The new arrangement is the continuation of the partnership between WMG and Mascom, which has been representing Warner Music in the territories of Serbia and Montenegro for over twenty years now, the press release says.

The investment by a large international company in a Serbian business entity is the first direct investment of this type in Serbia and the region and sets a precedent by beginning to implement world standards in the record industry, as well as opening the door to the global markets for local talent.
