The minister of energy and mining of Republika Srpska, Petar Djokic, stated last night in Ugljevik that RS wanted to help Serbia and that it would direct certain quantities of coal to it, available from the Ugljevik mine.

– There’s coal in this region for sure and the populace cannot be left without coal. The priority for the mine in Ugljevik is to serve the needs of the Thermal Power Plant, and at the moment, Serbia is the priority – Djokic told the press.

He said that RS had an agreement with Serbia about mutual cooperation, support and assistance in all affairs.

– Especially in this case, when we estimate that Serbia, for the sake of its energy security, should have new, larger quantities of coal and it is normal and logical to direct it towards it – Djokic estimated.

He said that the Ugljevik mine supplied the Thermal Power Plant primarily, and if the possibility of selling certain quantities to purchasers in other markets opened, it would do so.

Djokic added that there had been an open market for a certain period of that year and that other markets had been supplied as well.
