Representatives of the National Information Society Agency of the Government of the Republic of Korea (NIA) and the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of Serbia recently went on a working visit to the City of Nis, where they considered additional propositions and measures regarding the reconstruction of the facility meant for the establishment of the second Serbian-Korean Information-Access (SKIP) Center in Serbia.

They also discussed the progress of the reconstruction of the SKIP Center in Belgrade, which opened less than five years before, and the representatives of NIA expressed their satisfaction with its operations and management and pointed out that the Belgrade SKIP Center would serve as a model for creating the same kind of center in Nis.

– It is my pleasure that I have the opportunity to witness firsthand everything that I’ve been listening to about the results of the operations of the SKIP Center, which is run by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government. We will look for the quality of the design of the SKIP Center in Nis to not deviate from that of the Belgrade center, which has acquired a great reputation within the global network of information-access centers – said Unjong Ji, the executive director of the Sector for Global Cooperation in ICT at NIA.

The NIA representatives also met with representatives of the city administration of Nis and visited the location of the new SKIP Center, which will be another multifunctional facility meant for the strengthening of the citizens’ capacities in the field of digitization.

Within the Global ICT Leadership Forum held in November 2021 in Seoul, the Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Cooperation in ICT was signed between the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of Serbia and NIA, which established the legal basis for the extension of the cooperation the updating of the IT equipment of the center in Belgrade and the opening of another center in Nis.

The official opening of the center in Nis is planned for the end of this year.
