Belgrade Company to Buy Vega Wholesale Pharmacy from Valjevo and 66 Pharmacies Throughout Serbia

The Commission for Protection of Competition has approved the acquisition of the Valjevo-based wholesale pharmacy Vega and the pharmacy institution Vegafarma from the same town by the Belgrade-based company Eter Consulting d.o.o.

Eter Consulting sent the request to the Commission in January, and the concentration was approved in May.

According to the Commission’s decision, Eter Consulting is a holding company owned by Dejan Cakajac, who is also the owner of companies in Serbia which are in the business of real estate and construction consulting and another two such companies in Zagreb and Kenya, and he also has an ownership share in several betting companies, from Serbia to Ghana and Nigeria.

On the other hand, the Valjevo-based company Vega, owned by Snezana Jesic, is in the business of wholesale trade of pharmaceutical products. Jesic also owns Vegafarma, a pharmaceutical institution with 64 pharmacies in several cities in Serbia, which also owns the pharmacy Palanka Lek in Smederevska Palanka, the Pharmacy Institution Nada in New Belgrade, Zdravlje Plus in Vrbas and Hygieia in Kragujevac, which comprises a total of 80 pharmacies owned by Vegafarma.

Of that number, the transaction carried out by Eter Consulting pertains to 66 pharmacies, says the Commission’s decision.
