Ministry Publishes Tender for Preparation of Study of Potentials of Passenger Railway in Serbia

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia has published the public contest for the preparation of the study of the potentials of passenger railway in Serbia, within the project of the modernization of the Serbian rail sector.

For the financing of the first phase of this project, which entails the improvement of the efficiency and safety of the existing rail property and the improvement of the management and institutional capacities of the rail sector, Serbia got a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Development Agency (AFD) in the amount of EUR 102 million, and a part of the proceeds will be used to pay for the consulting services.

The aim of the preparation of the study is to attract a larger number of users, with special emphasis on the integration with the existing and future public transport system.

This strategy will help the Government of Serbia structure the further support to the rail sector, it will help rail companies better understand the demand of the rail passenger traffic and improve the scope of their services and it will help municipalities better connect their urban tissue with railway stations.

Bids may be sent by July 25.
