Edi Rama Hints at Important Discovery of Gas and Oil in Albania

The Albanian prime minister, Edi Rama, hinted today that the company Shell was very close to an important discovery of gas and oil in Albania, which would largely influence not just the future of the country, but also the energy future of Europe.

– We are full of hope that we will soon be able to notify the public in our country and the region, but also outside the region, about a very important discovery that Shell is working on in our country. They refuse to talk about it, but there are signs that we are close to a very important discovery of gas and oil – Rama said during his visit to the Netherlands.

Rama talked today with representatives of Dutch companies operating in Albania and other investors interested in expanding the activities, according to the Albanian news agency ATA.

In May 2019, Shell announced that the explorations near the city of Berat, in central Albania, had confirmed the possibility of a significant detection of oil.
