One of the most important investments that we need to launch next year is the investment in the Port of Belgrade, worth a total of nearly half a billion euros, whereby it will become the biggest regional port and we therefore have to carefully approach the realization of this project, stated the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, who hosted the representatives of the Port of Antwerp on a joint boat ride in Belgrade.

– It is our pleasure to have been able to organize a working lunch with representatives of the Port of Antwerp, the biggest port by the area, but also the second biggest port by the volume of the reloading of goods in Europe – Momirovic pointed out.

Minister Momirovic added that the interest of the Port of Antwerp was flattering and that, at that moment, the investment wave in the water sector entailed investments in the ports of Bogojevo, Prahovo and Sremska Mitrovica, in addition to the already initiated works at the Port of Novi Sad.

During the working lunch and the boat ride, Philippe Dessoy, the general manager at BESIX, the vice president of the EIC (European International Contractors) and the senior vice president of the CICA (Confederation of International Contractors Associations), expressed his gratitutde on behalf of the Port of Antwerp for the hospitability and once again emphasized the interest of this company in taking part in the realization of the project of the construction of a new port in Belgrade.

In February this year, at the invitation of the management of the Port of Antwerp, minister Momirovic visited the eponymous port, the biggest port by area in Europe, which employs 150,000 people and is the driving engine of the economic development of not just Belgium, but also the whole European Union.
