Turija, which is famous for its sausage fair, has recently got another tourist attraction that will be luring the lovers of nature and good meals. Actor Sonja Damjanovic has ceremoniously opened Hunting Lodge Turija, situated in the vicinity of Srbobran, by reciting the verses of Vojvodina's most famous poet and bohemian Mika Antic, while the guests have been invited to enjoy the famous specialties of Vojvodina - Turija's sausages, pork ham, quail soup and top-quality wines.

This Vojvodina's house, of which style of construction dates back to late 19th and early 20th century, is built in accordance with the demands of contemporary tourism and it is fully equipped with modern technology. The author of the facility built in "Alt Deutsch" style is Blagota Pesic, while the contractor was SZR Inzenjering Mile Golubovic.

Carmela Di Bari, the Manager of Hunting Lodge Turija, explains for eKapija that the lodge is built in Turija because it is located in the heart of Vojvodina and because one of the Guinness records was set in this area - hunters caught the deer with the largest horns.

- Turija is surrounded by the most diverse and the most attractive hunting grounds. Hunters from European countries love to come to our hunting grounds and we wanted to give them a reason why to come here. We put effort into making an authentic facility and bringing back the spirit and glamor of the old times, while still providing full comfort along with all those modern things that make our life easier and more comfortable - says our interlocutor.

According to Ms. Di Bari, they have been studying hunting lodges and centers all around Europe and doing their best to meet all the highest standards of hunting tourism.

- However, we also put effort into being authentic. As I already pointed out at the opening ceremony, I believe that we can show with Hunting Lodge Turija that our country has a significant natural wealth and potentials that should be used, as well as the culture, history and tradition it should show.

Hunting Lodge Turija comprises 12 modernly furnished rooms and a spacious suite, while the lovers of hunting are also able to bring their dogs here since there is a special accommodation for them as well.

- For those who don't want to separate from their pets, we have provided two "dog-friendly" rooms. Our guests can enjoy the sauna, swimming pool, lounge bar, as well as a spacious yard in front of the villa, which becomes an ideal place in hot summer nights for unforgettable enjoyment and story-telling. The guests who want to cook for themselves can do so in agreement with our restaurant staff. In association with Lovoturs, we organize a "diplomatic hunt", while various picnics and theme parties are organized for the guests who are not hunters.

Hunting Lodge Turija is also intended for all those who love nature, homely atmosphere, good cuisine and romantic sleigh rides.

- In addition to the usual program, we plan to organize weekend tours for our guests and make it possible for them to get familiar and fall in love with Vojvodina. The rich offer that includes the tours of historically important places, wine and food manufacturers, will also be attractive for non-hunters. For all those who want to take a break from the city way of life, we have prepared a diverse offer - from the preparation of organic food and visits to eco-farms to the bicycle ride across Vojvodina's plain.

More than one million euros was invested in the facility, which currently has 11 employees.

Ceremonious opening

By revealing the rare hunting trophy - the horns of the giant deer, Prime Minister of Vojvodina Dr. Bojan Pajtic symbolically opened Hunting Lodge Turija on Friday (November 26, 2010). The Frajle, a music band from Novi Sad, also contributed a lot to the relaxed atmosphere.

In addition to Dr. Bojan Pajtic, the opening ceremony was also attended by Minister of Agriculture Sasa Dragin, Minister for NIP Verica Kalanovic, representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as celebrities Bojana Lekic, Snezana Dakic, Biljana Popovic Ivkovic, Adrijana Cortan.

Hunting grounds

The hunting grounds in Turija occupy an area of 5,500 ha, while only 7 km away, in the municipality of Srbobran, there are 18,500 ha of hunting grounds. Turija's hunting grounds are spacious, flat and swampy, intersected by Danube-Tisa-Danube (DTD) canal, the Krivaja river and Beljanska moor, and they represent an ideal natural habitat for birds, large game, as well as for various kinds of river fish.

The hunting season in Turija is open during the whole year. From early August to mid-February, wild ducks, wild geese, peacocks, partridges, quails, wild pigeons, woodcocks and snipes can be hunted, while the European deer, fallow deer, roe, wild boar and rabbit can be hunted in the period April-December.
