Vucic and Orban opened the Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad yesterday. This year’s partner of the fair is Hungary, and it will be open until May 27.
After the meeting with Orban, Vucic said in an interview on TV Pink that it was important to have a friend like Hungary and added that it was of great importance for a country to let foreign gas be stored in its territory.
– For us, the friendship with Hungary is of essential importance. At the moment, we have 162 million cubic meters of gas in our part of Banatski Dvor, and in the Russian part, we have another 123 million. We can withdraw five million cubic meters of gas a day, which is not enough in the winter, because we withdraw up to around 15 million then. That is why it’s important to have another source as well and a place where we can store gas – Vucic said and added that the plan was therefore to build in Srpski Itebej.
He said that Serbia “has asked” Hungary to enable it to store between 300 and 500 million cubic meters of gas in Hungarian storage facilities, because that will make Serbian citizens secure, even if “somebody tries to cut gas lines, because you have to take hysteria into account, and not rational thinking”.
