Serbia lacks around 12,000 professional drivers, of which 8,000 in road cargo transport, as announced by the German Cooperation in Serbia (GIZ).

– According to the estimates of representatives of employers in Serbia, around 12,000 professional drivers more are needed today, 8,000 in road cargo transport, with the C and CE categories, and around 4,000 drivers in the sector of bus transporters, with the D and DE categories. All this creates an increasingly big problem for employers in road transport and users of services in Serbia, due to which inciting education for the purpose of increasing their number is extremely important – said the general manager of Srbijatransport, Goran Aleksic.

According to him, although the salaries for this scarce profession have been considerably increased, one of the big obstacles for those who want to do this job are the strict licensing requirements, stricter than even those in many EU states, as well as the high price of training.
