Government Adopts Action Plan for Implementation of Digitalization Program in Health System

The Serbian government adopted today the 2022-2023 Action Plan for the Implementation of the Digitalization Program in the Health System of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2022-2026. The plan contains activities for the development of digitalization in the health system in order to connect public, private and military health institutions and contributes to improving the quality, efficiency and accessibility of health care.

The priorities of the Action Plan include the establishment of a single laboratory information system for public and private health institutions, the enabling of an authorized access for health workers to the health data of patients between institutions, the reduction of unnecessary engagement of patients by enabling specialists to send electronic referral letters and electronic prescriptions, the implementation of an electronic regulation of sick leaves and other services of use to the citizens and the health system.

This plan also envisages the upgrade of the IT infrastructure in healthcare, the standardization in enabling the making of data-based decisions, the development of new technological solutions for a secure storage of genetic, radiology and other health data and the application of data for the development and use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, as well as the establishment of a modern platform for research and development.
