The GM of Telekom Srbija is to decide on issuing long-term securities, corporate bonds, in the EU stock exchange on May 4, whereby Telekom will become the first local company to decide to make that kind of an international business endeavor.

This was announced by the CEO of Telekom, Vladimir Lucic, in a long interview for Euronews Serbia on the “Direktrno sa Minjom Miletic” show. He also emphasized that entering the EU stock exchange was the best confirmation of transparent business operations.

– With this move, we are joining the company of the largest and more reputable international corporations in the field of telecommunications, such as Vodafone, Orange and Deutsche Telekom. We carefully plan our development and each next step is part of the total strategy. We have been preparing to enter the EU stock exchange for a year now, primarily through the centralization of procurement procedures through an exclusive agreement with Vodafone, which are now more efficient and favorable, and we will also get, as the first local company, an international credit rating. If there were no transparency in business, we wouldn’t be able to achieve any of this – Lucic explained.

In the strategic consolidation of Telekom, around 50% of the financing will come from banks, and 50% at the stock exchange through the issuing of corporate bonds. This follows a large investment cycle, where a lot was done in four years, Novosti reports.

– Primarily, there’s the development of an optical infrastructure, because now we have put Serbia, it has to be admitted, whether you like it or not, among the developed European countries when it comes to the number of kilometers of optical infrastructure and the number of households that can use optical internet. We have developed the 4G network, we are fully ready for 5G, we have invested in acquisitions of smaller operators, as well as in the production of content. And all this has been financially supported by banks, which are not asking for any guarantees from us in return. Furthermore, the company’s debts didn’t increase in Serbia last year, despite the big investments, whereas, on the level of the group, it is only 2% higher – Lucic said.

As he added, according to all criteria, Telekom belongs among the TC companies with medium-level debts, and at the same time, it realizes an exceptional income and profit growth.
